You can transfer funds between your account at Hingham Savings and your account at a different financial institution by Enrolling in Personal Online Banking. Once enrolled in online banking, you can Sign up for External Transfer.
To use External Transfer, log into Personal Online on your computer or internet browser and click Transfer in the top right corner and then click Launch External Transfer.
Add a New Account
To get started using External Transfer, you will first need to add and verify an external account that you own at another financial institution within the United States. Foreign accounts and accounts not in your name are not eligible for this service. Verifying external accounts can only be done in the Internet Browser version of Personal Online and not from mobile banking app.
Note: If you would like to send money to an account that is not in your name, please consider Enrolling in Zelle or Using a P2P App.
From the External Transfer page, click Add a New Account
Enter the information of your external account and then click Next
Account Type: Checking, Savings, Money Market Checking, Money Market Savings, or Brokerage
Account Nickname: Add an optional nickname
Routing Number: Contact the external bank for your routing number or use the ABA Routing Number Lookup tool
Account Number: Enter and re-enter the account number
You can then verify your external account using one of two methods:
Authenticate: You'll be taken to the external bank website to sign in using your online banking credentials for that bank in order to establish an immediate connection
Manually Verify: You'll receive two small deposits of less than $1.00 into your external bank account within 1 to 3 business days
If you choose to manually verify your account, click Send me two deposits on the next page
Once you have received the two small deposits into your external account within 1-3 business days, revisit the External Transfer page and click Preferences
On the Preferences tab, scroll down to the My Other Accounts section and click Verify next to your external account
Enter the two small deposit amounts you received into your external account
Note: After entering the two small deposit amounts, please wait 24 hours for the verification to fully process. External transfers requested on the same day you entered the verification may be placed on hold. You will receive an email notification if your external transfer is placed on hold. If this happens, contact us at 781-749-2200 for assistance in releasing the hold.
Edit / Delete Account
You can add a nickname to an external account or delete an external account. Editing and deleting external accounts can only be done in the Internet Browser version of Personal Online and not from mobile banking app.
On the External Transfer page and click Preferences
On the Preferences tab, scroll down to the My Other Accounts section and click the arrow next to the name of your external account to expand the information for that account
Click Edit to add a nickname to the external account or click Delete to remove the external account
Note: You can't delete an account while transfers are pending or processing. Wait until the processing is complete, or cancel pending transfers, before trying this again.
Transfer Funds
You can send or receive money from your verified external accounts within the established Transfer Limits for External Transfer at no fee. Transfers to or from an external account will take up to 3 business days to fully complete.
On the External Transfer page and click Transfer Funds
On the Transfer Funds tab, enter the transfer details to Create Transfer and then click Review
From: Select the account from which you would like to take money
To: Select the account to which you would like to send money
Amount($): Type in the dollar amount of your transfer
Send: Choose a date on which to make the transfer
Frequency: Choose either One-time transfer or choose from a list of Recurring transfer options
Memo to self: Type and option message on the transfer for your own reference
Review the details of the transfer and then click Confirm
Note: When transferring out of an account the ACH Withdrawal transaction description will show as an abbreviation of the name of the bank you are transferring to followed by CK WEBXFER.
When transferring into an account the description will show an abbreviated bank name followed by CK WEBXFER P2P.
