Two-Factor Authentication is an extra layer of protection used to ensure the security of online accounts beyond just a username and password. Hingham Institution for Savings uses one-time passcodes sent via text message or phone call to authenticate your identity after signing in with your username and password. The use of one-time passcodes greatly reduces the risk of an unauthorized log in to your Personal Online Banking profile.

Upon your first log in to Personal Online Banking, you will be required to enroll and verify your phone number(s) with a one-time passcode. There are other instances where you will be asked to enter a one-time passcode, such as logging in on a new device, or logging in while out of the country.

How to Enroll Through an Internet Browser

If you haven't already, Enroll in Personal Online Banking.

Log in to Personal Online Banking with your username and password.

Once you click Log In, you will be prompted to enter your Home, Mobile, and Work phone numbers. A Home and Mobile number(s) are required -- a Work phone number is not.

Please Note: International phone numbers are accepted by choosing the appropriate country code from the drop-down box. Once you have filled in your phone numbers, click Continue and you will be navigated to your online banking profile.

The next time you log in, you will be asked to enter a one-time passcode. Please note that you will not be asked to enter a one-time passcode on every log in.

You are asked to choose a method of delivery for a one-time passcode. Choose the phone number you want to receive the code from the drop down menu. Click Send Text Message to receive the one-time passcode by SMS Text, or choose Call Phone to receive the one-time passcode through a voice call.

Once you receive the one-time passcode through Text Message or Phone Call, enter the code into the provided Passcode field and click Continue. You will then be navigated to your online banking profile.
