Opening a new account online with Hingham Institution for Savings is easy and will only take a few minutes! To get started, you will need your Social Security Number and the routing and account number for the account you want to use to fund your new account.

Step 1 - Select Product

Navigate to the Type of Account you want to open by clicking on the Apply Now button beneath the product tiles. If you're opening a CD account, select the CD term that you would like to open in the drop down field.

Step 2 - Verify Your Identity

Fill in some basic information and verify your email address by inputting the one-time passcode that is emailed to you. The next few pages of the application will be used to collecting your information and verify your identity.

Step 3 - Fund account

You have two options to fund your account. You can fund by either:

  1. Bank Login: Fund your account by connecting to online banking. Securely enter your login credentials to your bank's online banking platform via Plaid and selecting the account from which you'd like to fund.

  2. Add an Account: Input your routing and account number as well as your Driver's License number.

**Minimum deposit requirements vary by product and is listed underneath the Funding Amount Field.

At Hingham, we take data privacy very seriously. Please be assured that both options are fully secure.

Step 4 - Accept Terms & Conditions and Submit

Review your information. If you need to make any changes to your application, simply click on the Edit option on the right.

Once you have reviewed and confirmed your information is correct, scroll down to find the Account Agreements. Read and save these, then check the box to acknowledge and click Agree & Submit to submit your application!

The decision for your application may take a few minutes. Once you've completed your application and your account has been approved, you will receive your new account number and terms (maturity date for CDs) on the approval confirmation screen.

If your application is not automatically approved, you will receive an email stating your application has been approved or denied once your application is reviewed.

Getting Your Account Details

  • If your application is approved, you must sign back into your application to retrieve your account details. To protect your sensitive information, account details will never be emailed to you.

  • To sign back into your application, navigate to the Open an Account tab at the top of the HIFS Homepage, then click the Log In option on the top righthand corner.

  • You will be asked to enter your email address -- you must enter the email address you used when filling out the application (this field is case-sensitive). Once you submit your email address, you will be asked to enter the verification code that was sent to your email.

  • After you hit Confirm, you will be taken to your application dashboard that shows all of the applications you have begun and submitted. Click on the View Details option next to the account you would like to retrieve details for and details will show, including Name, account type, account number, Funding amounts and maturity date (For CDs).
