3D Secure, also known as Mastercard SecureCode, is a service to enhance an existing Mastercard debit card that provides additional protection against unauthorized use of their card when shopping at participating online retailers.

What are the benefits?

3D Secure establishes a private code for a customer's Mastercard debit card that gives customers an additional layer of online shopping security. Only the customer and the Financial Institution are able to see what the code is, merchants are unable to view.

Where is 3D Secure accepted?

More than one million online merchants in 122 locations support transactions made with SecureCode.

How do I know if a merchant uses 3D Secure?

Look for the logo when providing payment information.

How does 3D Secure work?

Once a person has registered and created their own private SecureCode, they will be prompted to enter the code when shopping at participating online merchants. This code will never be shared with the merchant, it is similar to entering a PIN at an ATM.
